For the board's consideration

Let's make some aesthetic changes.

Here's a new header for your consideration. I'm kind of jazzed on it, but I'm OK if you don't like it. Basically, I don't want to suggest change w/out throwing something out there myself.

Surf Riot

Surf Riot: Nick Waplington's photos from a 1986 beachside riot come to life, 25 years later.

The story behind Surf Riot goes like this: on the day of the 1986 OP Surf Pro Championships, Waplington arrived at the event to find that a massive riot had broken out amidst the event's estimated 100,000 spectators. As he writes in the book's afterword, "I had one roll of 24 exposures. I made 25 pictures. They are this book."

We came here to do two things...

We came here to do two things: chew bubble gum and kick ass... And we're all out of bubble gum.

Spaceship: Board eat board

Surfboard designs vary here and there... longer, shorter, fatter, narrower. But to have multiple outlines in one board kind of melts my mind. Maybe this idea isn't new, but I don't think I've seen anything quite like it.

Public service announcement

I've read a couple Facebook posts about boards stolen at the beach. Keep an eye out for sticky fingers. Don't become a statistic!

Flat Day Fun: VB Canoe Trail

I took on the cross-VB canoe trail yesterday with Dun and his son. The three of us were blown away. We put in near the bridge at Potters Rd and finished up off Princess Anne Rd.

Canoe Trail Highlights
Chester Discovers a new side of Virginia Beach
Sometimes it takes a little open mindedness and a year of hype to drag three fellows to boat through industrial parks, marshes, and ghetto. But when its all said and done these three mates ended up very inspired by their oft neglected home town spirit.
Flora and Fauna
The cell shots don't do it justice, but there were tons of leaning cherry trees in blossom and scattered daffodils strewn on the shore. We saw tons of cranes, wood peckers, purple martins, and a bald eagle. Got in a canoe speed drag race with a small water fairing vermin. One span of the trail ran past an open field with a bull and free running horses. No shit!

Intentional  detour of Arigona Village, Section 8, and Trailer Park sites.
We took the long way around through Green Run and ended up adding 3 miles to our intended 4 mile trip, but really got an up close and personal look at this town. A drug running circuit could be managed from the Bay to North Carolina with a john boat and an Arigona palace like this one.

rosey aesthetic

Looking for inputs on the site. Add your comments. Want to make some changes to the aesthetic. Maybe the Board should get together and talk it over some tacos and beer.
