R.I.P VA Beach Kings

"Death to the Virginia Beach Kings ( A Fear of Failure Love Story)"

 The elevator pitch:

"So it's a Rom Com/ Sci Fi flick with Zooey Deschahel and pro surfer Rob Machado (Ryan Gosling wan't available).  Basically Machado is a scientist building a time machine to go back to simpler times escaping the reality that the evil forward thinking city planner/urbanist (played by the heavy accented Rem Koolhaas) is imposing on the know it all cowtown, namely the construction of a NBA stadium.  Enter Zooey, she's an airheaded girl next door, and while constantly bothering the focused Dr. Machado (her slapstick klutziness creates hilarious and adorable setbacks for him) her penchant for nostalgia eventually wins him over and this odd couple fall madly in love.  Meanwhile Koolhaas catches wind of Machado's time machine and fearing a Terminator style assassination destroys it while Machado and Zooey are sharing their opinions on Yelp. They return to his barn/lab to find the time machine in pieces. Machado breaks down and in a moment of utter despair small minded Zooey's cries out " I wish there was a ray that would make everything go back to when life was simple, not messy, and of a medium high to high price point!"  Machado's eyes light up and in a musical montage set to a Mumford and Sons tune he builds a nostalgia ray from the time machine rubble.  The movie ends in a drag out battle between Machado and the evil urbanist centered around the the ray being employed to save the town.  Machado and Zooey eventually come out on top after a series of nail-biting close calls (Zooey is the one to shoot the ray after we think Machado is dead meat) and the ray blows the stadium construction site to Seattle.  Zooey and our hero kiss while the ray washes over the town. The End….but as the camera pans we see in the background the unrelenting evil urbanist (in post drag out fight condition) riding atop a light rail headed to our now restored small town,  signaling an action packed/ heart warming sequel."
