Local Skate Photography
Poaching from an article on AltDaily.com showing a local skate photographer. Checked out his site and he had this image from a beach spot. Stoked to see other dudes shredding here.
Saw my buddy Lucas kickflip up and 360 flip down those steps when I had mono in high school. Thanks for the memories Howard Tarpey!

Celebrate Season's Change
Revellers wearing masks play with sparklers during the traditional Buso Carnival in Mohacs, 200 km (124 miles) south of Budapest, February 19, 2012. At the Buso Carnival, which lasts for six days, locals celebrate the end of winter and party before the start of Lent. According to legend, the masks helped locals scare away the Turks in the 16th century.
Baldwin Lee: The south in black and white
I saw this exhibit yesterday. Great stuff.
From the Chrysler museum website:
Picture this... An Asian-American man from New York city is walking through African-American communities in the deep South. He's carrying an antique-looking wooden camera and a tripod and asking people if he can take their pictures. Most times they feel comfortable enough to say yes, because as Baldwin Lee notes in his memoir, he's a minority within a minority.

"I
routinely seek out the local police station when I arrive in a new
place. I announce that I am a tourist interested in taking photographs
and have very expensive camera equipment. The officers will usually
produce a map and redline areas to be avoided, almost always
neighborhoods where there is a concentration of blacks. The redlined
areas are where I go to make photographs."

Music: Simon Joyner
I caught part of an interesting NPR segment on Simon Joyner today which prompted me to check him out online. I wasn't familiar with Joyner until now (at least not knowingly). This video is a nice introduction to his music.
